As part of the visits, the delegation from Kyrgyz Republic participated in the 19th Regional Meeting of SALW Commissions, while the delegation from Cambodia took part in the 12th Regional Roadmap Meeting and the 20th Regional SALW Commissions Meeting. The delegations also engaged in bilateral discussions with Ministries of Interior and SALW Commissions of several Western Balkans jurisdictions and had the opportunity to visit firsthand forensic capacities in Belgrade, Podgorica and Skopje and the weapons storage capacities in Belgrade.
Additionally, in July 2024, SEESAC supported the development of the national strategy and action plan on SALW in the Kyrgyz Republic by contributing to the dedicated Workshop organized by UNDP and UNODA.
SEESAC organised three side events on the margins of the Fourth Review Conference (RevCon4) on the UN Programme of Action (PoA) to prevent, combat, and eradicate the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons in all its aspects and its International Tracing Instrument (ITI), which took place from 17 - 28 June 2024 in New York. The three side events were dedicated to 1) Sharing of good practices related to SALW Control Roadmaps in the Western Balkans, the Caribbean and Central America, organised jointly with UNODA 2) Mainstreaming of a gender perspective into SALW Control: From Policymaking to Operations organised jointly with UNODA and 3) Investigations of firearms-related crimes – good practices from Western Balkans.
